Master Data / Models

In this area, all models of the team are displayed.

In the first columns, the model data (manufacturer and model name) are listed, followed by created cars of this model. In the penultimate column, it can be seen whether the tyres for this model should be treated as Sets or as Pairs.

Pairs or Sets?

In principle, the tyres available in RaceBase are always initially created as a pair - that is, by axle.
However, in racing cars, usually all four tyres are treated at once. Therefore, two pairs are combined into a set, which is then available for further processing (heating, measurement, laps, etc.). In this case, the Sets setting is the correct one.
Sometimes, however, axle-wise consideration is more useful - for example, in front-wheel drive cars, where the tyres on the drive axle wear out much faster than on the rear axle. Often, pairs are then switched from the front axle to the rear axle. Combining the pairs into a set then hinders work rather than simplifying it. In this case, selecting Pairs is the right setting for the model.

:!: The correct choice of this feature should be thoroughly considered in advance. It should not be changed as this can lead to unpredictable malfunctions! :!:

To add a model, click on the plus sign next to the main heading. The Add Model window opens. In the Manufacturer field, you can select an already created manufacturer or add a new one. Then you enter the model name and choose whether the tyres should be maintained as Pairs or as Sets.

Changing a model is possible by clicking on the pencil icon in the function column of the table.

If a model is no longer needed, it can be archived. It is then no longer available for selection in many areas, especially when entering new data. However, existing data can still be viewed.

To archive the model, click on the trash can icon in the function column of the table. After a security query, the model is archived.

The trash can icon is only visible if no vehicle of this model is active.

By clicking on the archive box icon to the right of the main heading of the table, you switch the archive mode on or off. When archive mode is active, the icon is displayed in gray, and archived models are also displayed in the table with special markings (grayed out and crossed out).

An archived model can be restored by clicking on the recycling icon in the function column in archive mode and confirming the appearing security query.

Models cannot be deleted.
