Tyres / Tyres

Here, tyres are recorded. Under tyres, RaceBase understands the specific tyre model of a manufacturer for use on a vehicle. This is not yet about physically existing tyres, but more about a catalogue of available tyres.

Using the filter fields to the right of the main heading, you can filter by cars and events. While the car filter probably requires no explanation, a few words are necessary to explain the event filter. Let's imagine a case where a vehicle participates in different racing series. In one series, there is a standard tyre from a rather unpopular manufacturer, in the other series, the manufacturer is unrestricted. Therefore, the usable tyres must be assigned to the event. This ensures that only the correct tyres are added during the event, significantly reducing the likelihood of errors.

In the table, all data on the tyre is displayed. Additionally, a short code is generated from the data in the “Short term” column, where the first letter stands for the tyre type (Dry Slick, Wet, Intermediate, Cut Slick), and the subsequent letters represent the compound (UltraSoft, SuperSoft, Soft, Medium, Hard).

By clicking on the plus sign to the right of the main heading, the window Add New Tyre opens. The prerequisite is that a Car has been selected beforehand.

In the respective selection fields, you then choose the manufacturer, the tyre type (Slick, Rain Tyre, Intermediate, Cut Slick), and the compound. In the Axle field, you select the axle of the car on which the tyre is to be used. If the tyres are the same on both axles, you can also choose “Any”. As optional fields, you can also enter the dimension and the official designation (e.g., for use in the Tyre App). A click on the corresponding button saves the record.

If you want to change a tyre it is possible by clicking on the pencil icon in the function column of the table.

If a tyre is no longer needed, it can be archived. It is then no longer available for selection when entering new data. However, existing data can still be viewed.

To archive a tyre, click on the trash can icon in the function column of the table. After a security query, the tyre is archived.

By clicking on the archive box icon to the right of the main heading of the table, you switch the archive mode on or off. When archive mode is active, the icon is displayed in gray, and archived tyres are also displayed in the table with special markings (grayed out and crossed out).

An archived tyre can be restored by clicking on the recycling icon in the function column in archive mode and confirming the appearing security query.

Deleting tyres is not possible.

In order for tyres to be entered into the database during an event, they must be assigned to the event. The assigned tyres are displayed when the respective event is selected in the filter field. If you want to assign more tyres or remove assigned tyres, click on the assignment icon to the right of the main heading. Both the car and the event must be selected in the filter fields for this.

After the click, all non-archived tyres of the car are displayed. In the column on the far left, you can now make the assignment or cancel it using checkboxes. The setting is saved with a click on the button under the table.

The assignment has no effect on already created Pairs or Sets.
