Preparation for the Race Weekend

Now that you have made the basic entries, it's time for the first race weekend.

To be successful, you first need to enter your car for an event - just like in real life - and then assign the used tyres.

Event

Some events have already been set up for you by RaceBase. In cooperation with the community, this area should also continue to grow, so that not everyone always has to enter every event and session anew. Because I admit, this is one of the annoying tasks when working with RaceBase.

If the desired event already exists, you don't need to do anything else. If this is not the case, you will need to add your event. Do this by calling up the Master Data module and opening the Events page, then clicking on the plus sign .

In the now opening window Add Event, first enter the name of the event. Then, with a tick in the Private field, you can mark the event as private. It will then not be available to others.

An event should only be marked as private if it is, for example, a private test. To expand the entered events for everyone, unmarked events will be reviewed by the RaceBase team and then released for use by other teams. This way, the range of available events is continuously expanded by the community.

Then select the racetrack where the event takes place and the track version driven. A special case in RaceBase is the Short track version: e.g., in the Nürburgring Langstrecken Series (NLS), the race track consists of the Grand Prix course and the Nordschleife. You can also drive short laps on the Grand Prix course during practice, without using the Nordschleife. To represent this in RaceBase, a track version for the short lap can also be selected here. Normally, however, NO SHORT TRACK should be selected.

:!: If your racetrack does not yet exist, please contact the RaceBase team, and we will add the track immediately. :!:

With that, all the data for the event are complete. You can (and should) also enter the sessions here directly, as this is a bit more convenient than in the Session Table, which you should rather use for changes or additions.

For this, enter the name of the session, select the session type, and enter the start and end of the session.

If you want to add another session, click on the plus sign below the session and fill in the respective fields. You can enter up to ten sessions at once.

If you have accidentally created one session too much, you can remove the last session by clicking on the minus sign .

After entering and checking everything, you can save the event with a click on the Add Event button.

Entry

Now, let's get to the core. We enter the car for an event. To do this, we call up the Entries page. Here you can display the view sorted either by events or by cars using the filter field next to the main heading.

First, you should check if the desired entry has not already been made, as a double entry will lead to unwanted malfunctions!

If this is not the case, add the entry by clicking on the plus sign . In the now opening window Add Entry, select the event and the car. Then enter the starting number and the (possibly regulated) maximum tank content.

If you don't have a starting number yet, please still enter any number. You can change it to the correct number later.

Then enter the fuel consumption per lap in liters and, if necessary, the fuel consumption per short lap.

Finally, select the drivers in the order of the entry. The number then corresponds to the driver ID. You can add another driver with the plus sign and delete the last driver with the minus sign . Up to five drivers are possible per entry.

After clicking the Add Entry button, the data is saved.

Assign Tyres

After you have completed the entry, you still need to assign the usable tyres. This greatly facilitates your tyre man's task of creating new tyres on the racing weekend.

Go to the Tyres module and open the Tyres page and select the car and the event. If you have done everything according to this tutorial, the table is empty. Now click on the assignment symbol next to the main heading.

In the now displayed table, all tyres available for the car that you have created as described in Tyre Types are displayed. You now select the tyres available for new acquisition for the respective event by ticking the checkboxes in the first column. Click on the Assign Tyres button to save the assignment.

You can access and modify this assignment at any time by clicking the assignment symbol again.

The racing weekend can now come. You should initially acquire tyres and assemble them into sets.
