Registration of Basic Master Data

When using RaceBase for the first time, you should first complete this section. Here, the basic master data are created, so that subsequent use of RaceBase is possible at all.

Why all this? To use RaceBase sensibly, you need to have a car, and ideally, you already know some of your drivers. Now we just need to create the tyre types, and then we are done with entering the basic data.

Car

First, your team needs a car for use in motorsport. Therefore, call up the Master Data module and open the Cars page. The list of cars is, of course, empty, but we will change that now. Click on the plus sign next to the main heading.

The Add Car window opens. Here you enter the manufacturer and the model. You should also give the car a meaningful nickname.

The nickname uniquely identifies the car, unlike, for example, the starting number, which changes at every event. So give it a sensible name. Either you have already thought of a pet name for your car, or you take the main sponsor, for example. RaceBase uses the nickname in many places for selection, it would be very cumbersome if you have 3 identical cars, to keep track in another way.

You can then enter the maximum tank content of the car. Regulatory-based fuel restrictions are not specified here but later in the Entry to the Race Weekend.

Finally, if you want, you can enter the chassis number and click on the Add Car button. If everything worked correctly, your car should now be in the table.

Driver

Now that the car is created, we still need drivers to move the car. Ideally, you already know them now, if not, you can come back here later. And of course, always when you want to add a new driver.

So switch to the Drivers page. Here, click again on the plus sign next to the main heading.

In the Add Driver window, enter the name, first name, and nickname. You only need to fill in the email address field if you work with the Setup Add-On and want to send the driver an email for feedback request. Then you should also select the language for the email accordingly.

With a click on the Add Driver button, the entries are saved, and the driver should now appear in the table.

Please make sure before creating a new driver that they do not already exist, to avoid duplicates.

Tyre Types

After these very simple activities, it gets a bit more complicated. For this, please call up the Tyres module and open the Tyres page and select your car and All Events in the filter fields.

What you now see is a list of all tyres available for the car, i.e., a catalog of orderable tyres of various manufacturers and tyre types. The list is, of course, empty if you are new to this.

You don't have to enter all the tyres that exist in the world, just those you plan to buy for your car.

So click again on the plus sign next to the main heading. The Add New Tyre window opens.

Here you now select the tyre manufacturer, the tyre type, and the tyre compound from the dropdown fields. Then choose which axle the tyre can be used on, or if axle assignment is not necessary. This is usually the case for near-series cars.

You can then enter the tyre dimension and the official designation of the tyre manufacturer. This will then be displayed, for example, in the Tyre App overview.

After clicking the Save New Tyre button, the tyre is displayed in the table.

You must now repeat this process for each compound, for each axle, for each tyre type.

If you have a near-series car that runs the same tyre size front and back and for which your trusted manufacturer has two different slick compounds and a rain tyre, you only need to create three tyres.

If, on the other hand, you drive a GT3 that is supposed to run Pirelli in the GTMasters and Michelin in the NLS, where there are of course three different compounds per manufacturer and in addition to rain tyres and intermediates, you unfortunately have to enter 5*3*2=30 tyres. Fortunately, this is only necessary once.

Don't worry that it will become too confusing, the list will then be restricted to the respectively permissible or desired tyres for the individual event.

You are now prepared for the first Race Weekend.
